Where is the surgery performed?
Mini-abdominoplasty is performed at ambulatory surgery centers that are accredited by the Association for ambulatory healthcare and Medicare and are located on or near campus of major hospitals where the doctors have admitting privileges. Full abdominoplasty is performed at one of the local hospitals where Dr. Mark Pinsky is on staff.
What type of anesthesia do you use?
General anesthesia is typically required.
Will I be charged for follow up appointments? Is the cost of medications included in the final cost?
There will be no charge for postoperative appointments. Medication costs are not included but may be offset by your health insurance
When can I eat after surgery?
You will be able to have liquids the night of surgery, and progress as tolerated to solid food

When you are no longer taking pain medication
What are the risks?
Bleeding, infection, poor wound healing, blood clots
How much weight will I lose?
The amount of weight loss following surgery varies, but is usually not more than several pounds. The procedure will remove excess skin and fat in the lower abdomen. The amount of weight loss depends how much fat is within in the skin in the area that is removed.
What happens if I become pregnant in the future?
The abdominal skin will stretch out, but not to the same extent as preoperatively. It is generally recommended to have an abdominoplasty done after you have finished having children.
