How to Make the Most of Your Eyelid Lift

An eyelift, medically referred to as blepharoplasty, can be performed on the upper or lower eyelid, or both. When performed on the upper eyelid, Dr. Pinsky often removes excess skin and fat, and tightens lax musculature to restore a youthful eyelid contour. The incision is typically concealed within the eyelid crease so that any trace of the procedure is undetectable. Called an “upper bleph”, these procedures can often be performed in the office under local anesthesia. This creates significant cost savings for patients for whom local anesthesia is an option.

Lower eyelid surgery is designed to remove excess skin and fat deposits. If needed, Dr. Pinsky can reposition some underlying fat to fill hollowed tear troughs for a more rested, revitalized appearance. Though upper and lower eyelid surgery can be performed separately, they can also be done simultaneously, depending upon the individual patient’s needs.

Blepharoplasty is not intended for wrinkle reduction, the treatment of dark shadows, or to correct sagging eyebrows. For women or men who desire a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation, eyelid surgery can be successfully combined with a facelift or forehead lift. Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers, such as Restylane® or JUVÉDERM®, can also minimize the appearance of hollows beneath the eyes to restore lost volume. Similarly, non-surgical BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can help diminish fine lines around the eyes commonly known as crow’s feet. During the consultation process, Dr. Pinsky will carefully review your concerns and expectations before designing a customized treatment plan that can meet your unique goals.
